Building store fixtures for more than one location

How we built, flat-packed and shipped twelve booths for an Ephemeral tattoo studio, and what to send when a fixture package has to repeat.

We build display shelving, cooler surrounds, check-in desks, booths and planters for shops, studios and brand spaces. When a client opens another location, we can build the same package again and ship it. The booths we built for Ephemeral are the clearest example.

Twelve booths for Ephemeral

For an Ephemeral tattoo studio, we built twelve private booths. Each one is a plywood frame clad in powder-coated corrugated steel, in a different skin tone matched to Ephemeral's Pantone colors. Ten are 10 x 10 ft, one is 10 x 16.5 ft and one is 10 x 20 ft, all 8 ft tall. The check-in desk and two planters are clad in the same steel.

We drew the shop drawings and 3D desk concepts first and built from June to September 2022. Everything was flat-packed, shipped and installed in a few days. Ephemeral had us build for more of its studios after that.

What to send for a package that repeats

  • Drawings or design intent. A sketch with dimensions is a fine start.
  • Quantities, and how many locations.
  • Ship-to addresses and install dates.
  • Brand colors or finish samples.

Coolers and shelving

At Mañana Dos, we built shrouds for the reach-in coolers, shelving and storage cabinets, with a 5 in. kick plate running across all of it. We also built the shelving at Honest Mary's.

In the shop

Fixture parts are cut on our two CNC routers and edge-banded on a Homag edgebander. We also have a vacuum forming oven for shaped acrylic and a large-format UV printer. Assembly and finishing are done in-house.
