About Austin Custom CNC

Austin Custom CNC is a design and fabrication shop at 6401 Airport Blvd in Austin. We're part of the Highland Collective, a group of makers on the same site whose members do metalwork, large-scale sculpture, murals and electronic controllers.

We've been building since 2019. That year, working as Official Science, the shop built a stacked-slice wall for the G.W. Carver Museum's core exhibit. Official Science LLC still operates the business as Austin Custom CNC.

Most of our work today is custom casework and millwork for commercial and high-end residential projects. We also build fixtures, furniture, signs and installations, and cut parts from customer files. Engineering, CNC cutting, assembly and finishing all happen in our shop. We coordinate installation and bring in partner shops for metal, stone and upholstery.

We work for general contractors, architects and interior designers, restaurants and hospitality groups, museums, national brands, and owners of high-end homes. Most jobs are in Austin and Central Texas. We've also shipped work out of state, including The North Face's installation at SFMOMA in San Francisco.

Clients include Meta and Tesla. Through the exhibit designer MuseWork, we've also worked for Palo Pinto Mountains State Park.

The shop runs two CNC routers, both with 5 x 10 ft beds, one of them an Anderson Spectrum 510. We also have a Homag edgebander, a vacuum press for veneer, a vacuum forming oven for acrylic, a large-format UV printer and spray finishing equipment. There are about ten of us.
