Commercial millwork in Austin

We build architectural casework and millwork for commercial interiors in Austin and Central Texas: bars, host stands, shelving walls, paneling, columns, built-in seating, cabinets and counters. Most jobs come to us from a general contractor or a designer with a drawing set, and we take them from shop drawings through finishing.

What we've built

At Jupiter Supper Club on Congress Avenue, our package ran from the bar and host stand to Library Lounge casework, a coffered ceiling, columns, wainscot and the stage in the live music room. For Honest Mary's in Cedar Park we built two built-ins with planters, table tops and bases, shelving and arches. At Serranos Lakeline it was bar millwork and a feature wall made of wooden rolling pins. For Mañana Dos in the Seaholm District we built cooler shrouds, a guest service station, shelving and storage cabinets etched with a mural pattern.

We also build high-end residential cabinetry. A house off Lost Creek Boulevard in West Austin got a kitchen first, then vanities, closets, a wardrobe and a white oak credenza.

Other clients include Meta and Tesla.

How a job runs

We start from the architect's drawings and the finish schedule. Our engineering team models the work and draws shop drawings for approval. On Honest Mary's we also sent the general contractor the shop drawings as an AR model they could open on a phone. Once drawings are approved, parts are cut on our CNC routers, then assembled and finished in our shop, paint and stain included.

Stone, metal and upholstery go to partner shops, and we manage them inside our scope when the package includes them. At Jupiter, we did all of the millwork in partnership with Howdy Built. Howdy Built did the metal, and Baroque Countertops did the stone tops, which were part of our contract. At Honest Mary's, McClain Metalworks made the stainless drip pans for the planters as our subcontractor.

We coordinate installation with the general contractor and come back for warranty items after opening.

Materials, finishes and hardware

We finish to the spec. Jupiter's painted millwork is Fine Paints of Europe over an FPE oil primer; we painted the casework and shelving and pre-primed the ceiling, columns and wainscot for the site painter. Honest Mary's white oak got Rubio Monocoat with 5% smoke.

Our default cabinet hardware is Blum hinges and Grass slides, bought through Häfele, and we also buy from Richelieu. The shop has a Homag edgebander and a vacuum press for veneer work.

Questions

Do you work for general contractors or directly for owners?

Both. We've held millwork subcontracts under Pravo Construction and Citadel Development Services, and we've worked directly for owners, like New Waterloo on Mañana Dos.

Do you draw shop drawings?

Yes. Our engineering team models the work in 3D and draws shop drawings for approval before anything is cut.

Do you install?

We coordinate installation with your general contractor. We have also installed on site ourselves, at Serranos Lakeline in January 2024 and at SFMOMA in October 2022.

How far do you work from Austin?

Most of our work is in Austin and Central Texas. We have also built and shipped work out of state, including an installation at SFMOMA in San Francisco.
